News and Views

With people getting married all the time, there are always articles,
blog posts, and news about weddings. It is interesting to read about
everyones different experiences, which obviously vary greatly based on
type of wedding, age, location, budget, taste etc! One thing that
many people will have in common though, is the fact that whatever the
wedding, it will take a great deal of planning!

Some people hire wedding planners to take care of everything, a kind
of one stop shop. Others prefer to plan themselves, which is a huge
undertaking, but a rewarding one (I’m sure!). Planning it yourself is
a huge organisational project, something I’m not so hot at, but the
other half is, as it sounds in this article or this one.

Are you planning your own wedding, or have you? Have you got any
pointers to share with us that we can learn from, or is there anything
that you would do differently? Leave a comment

Wedding Music

Right, with so much to organise, there are a few things which do need to be decided. Music is a good example of this. Whilst it would be great to have a band playing music live – traditional British wedding cheese – the cost of a band is almost always upwards of £1,500 ($3,000). The alternative is to have some sort of DJ, which can cost anywhere from about £100 ($200), but you get what you pay for, we’ve got some connections and can get a good quality DJ team for about £500 ($1000), which sounds like a lot for wedding music, however this will be all the music all the evening of our wedding, and we save at least £1000 over a band. The other alternative is some live entertainment, like these guys…

But we’re worried that they may be one trick ponies!

What do you think, band or DJ, and why? Leave a comment…
