In the end, my in laws kindly provided the cake which was delicious. However, our original idea was to ask friends and
family to make the cake for us. To cut down on cost, we used the cake as pudding. You can ask someone (or even do it yourself) to make a delicious chocolate cake and then serve that as your pudding (most caterers should be happy to serve this for you). This is a massive saving as you do not have to pay for a pudding course and only have to pay for the ingredients for the cake. I have been to so many weddings where the cake is a fruit cake and is cut after the meal when everyone is full up and sadly the cake is not eaten.
Top Tips For Wedding Cake:
- Serve the cake as pudding.
- Ask someone to make the cake for you.
- Marks & Spencer do some excellent wedding cakes in different sizes for a very good price, as do Waitrose and Tesco. You can make them individual with flowers or add a cake topper.
