Music

I love to dance so we knew that we wanted some music entertainment for the evening.  I had a look at lots of websites and spoke to many married friends for band ideas.  If you decide to opt for a Band then be prepared to pay for it.  A band for a wedding is usually priced at about £1,500 which is a lot of money and we just couldn’t afford that.  We were recommended a local DJ.  He was brilliant and we couldn’t have asked for more.  The dance floor was full all night and he happily took requests so our guests could  hear their favourite songs.  We gave the DJ a list of some songs that we wanted to hear and then told him to play whatever he thought would get people dancing.  The DJ played from 9pm till 1am and cost us a bargain £150!!

During the church service and at the reception, we had hired a string quartet to play.  The guests really enjoyed this and it just added a really classy element to the day.  The string quartet plus the DJ was less than a third of what we would have paid for a band.  A great saving and people loved it!

Top Tips For Wedding Music:

  1. Shop around and get recommendations.
  2. A DJ is a much cheaper and safer option than a band and they will play all the songs you want to hear.
  3. Ask some of your friends to give you a list of their favourite songs so that you can ask the band/DJ to play those and then you will be guaranteed to have a full dance floor!
