I bought my wedding dress from a bridal shop in Sherborne, Dorset. I had tried on lots of dresses and I knew that I wanted to have something classic and simple, but didn’t want a strapless dress. I feel in love with ‘Tia’ from Augusta Jones and my parents kindly bought it for me as a present.

Top Tips for buying a Wedding Dress
- Bear in mind that you will be wearing your wedding dress all day so make sure it is comfortable. NEVER buy a dress that is too small in the hope that you will fit into it as it is easier for a dressmaker to take a dress in rather than out when you go for your fittings.
- Try to see if you can find the dress of your dreams second hand. There are many websites that offer this – www.sellmyweddingdress.co.uk www.thedressmarket.net

- See if you know anyone that is good with a sewing machine as if they are good enough to alter the wedding dress for you then you will save on a dressmaker!
- If you fall in love with a particular dress, but it is too expensive then ask a dress maker to recreate the dress for you. It can save you thousands.
- Many of the wedding dress shops have second hand rails as well as sale rails and are definitely worth looking at.
- Get a dress from a designer (like Amanda Wakely) which is a lot less expensive than a wedding dress, it is easier
to sell on and you can wear it again. - Monsoon also has a good range of wedding dresses another good value option is Marks & Spencer.
